DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK
When I said that Unit 44 was coming back with a vengeance, I wasn’t kidding around!
If you backed Unit 44 #5—wherein our inept Area 51 employees Agent Gibson and Agent Hatch investigate the potentially dangerous Blood Moon Cult—your copy will be shipping out this week!
If you haven’t yet scored a copy, visit the Alterna Comics Spring Preorder Indiegogo campaign and grab your copy of the issue ($2), or the 96-page volume 1 Giant (collecting issues #1-4, $6) by hitting the link below.
SURREALITY JUST GOT FUNKY
Now, Unit 44 #6 is available for preorder as well, and will ship out in just a few months’ time.
Unit 44 #6: Lost in Surreality
Story/Letters: Wes Locher

Check out the video trailer for the issue—which I cobbled together with my mediocre iMovie skills—below:
SNEAK PEEK
Months before Marvel Studios sent Doc Strange hurtling through the multiverse, I was cooking up my own version of an interdimensional adventure for my two favorite idiotic Area 51 employees.
Since we moved to a new format for the series (one-and-done, self contained stories with the occasionally dangling plot thread) it allowed me to not only send the agents on different supernatural cases—a la the X-Files—but allowed for another type of fun, new story… What’s it like to be an employee at Area 51? And what happens around that place day to day? That’s what issue 6 is bringing you… a peek behind the curtain at a secretive facility, and all the crazy, bonkers shenanigans that might happen there.
But enough talking about the issue—let’s see it! Check out FOUR pages from #6 below! (Protip: Click/tap for larger versions.)
Fun fact: If you’re a friend of mine, or somehow related, chances are that at some point you’ll have an Area 51 agent named after you. That’s just how I roll.
I’ve written quite a few issues of Unit 44 now, and I find that the best issues are the easiest ones to write. If I’m struggling with plot, or jokes, or panel descriptions, it’s usually a sign that something’s not working.
“Lost in Surreality” was one of my favorite issues to write. The idea came to me in a crystal clear format, and all I had to do was feverishly channel it from the aether and onto the page. Artist Aleks Jovic PERFECTLY translated into the art what I saw in my mind’s eye, and Andrew Pate made this issue pop with his colors. Even Alterna Comics publisher Peter Simeti called this “the best issue of Unit 44 so far.” And why would he lie?
REAL TALK
I hope you’ll hit the link below and preorder your copy. Heck, I’d like you to grab all the issues being offered in this campaign, but if you just want Unit 44, click “Build Your Own Bundle” and select the issue.
I’d love to write this series for a very long time, and I can only do that with your help. Plus, chances are, you probably like to laugh, right? I’m bringing the funny.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. Don't call it a comeback? Did you watch OTH back in the day? :P
