Thanks for sharing this experience! I totally get the whole thing about feeding the beast. I've been wanting to get serious again about my own writing, BUT... I edit books all day, every day and it's hard to get into that mode outside of working hours. I do hope you get that book written and that you keep us posted about it.

I think my last pleasure reading was a Star Wars novel, “Padawan”, by Kiersten White. Though a lot of the reading I’m doing for work, or research is really enjoyable, so it doesn’t feel as tedious.

Thanks for sharing this, Allen! How long ago did you check out this book (and did you enjoy it)?

Wow, when I have to think about it, I guess it was almost 2 months ago?! That seems way too long but that's how long it's been. Certainly makes me want to pay more attention and make time to read more.

I really did enjoy it. It's one of the newer Star Wars YA novels, so the tone is a bit lighter, but it still works well. The story covers an unauthorized mission Obi-Wan Kenobi takes upon himself while he was still a Padawan under Qui-Gon Jinn. The author really got a the voice of a teen Kenobi pretty good. There was some repetition of material that started to feel a little bit spoon fed, but it didn't get out of hand. All in all, nice and easy reading.

How about you? Any good recommendations for beating these balmy Southern winter doldrums?
